When I go through the botanical garden in my university,

I found this advertisement.

I will attend at this lecture, Craft and Tourism - beads' transformation in Bali-.
The professor Ken Matsui of the university of Tokyo will come to Kagoshima on 4th June 2011 and lecture about the beads in Bali island, Indonesia. Ofcourse, I think we can also see many glass beads :) And it is a free lecture ♪

I tried to translate the article in the poster. Correct me if I'm wrong :D

Precious stones and shells have been used as accessories by people since prehistoric age.
Since glass was invented, people had treated the glass beads as valuable accessories. In Asia and Africa, Venetian glass beads had value and were traded for gold or silver accessories during the Age of Exploration.
And now, with the popularity of tourism, various glass beads have spread from Asia to many other countries. Here, I will lecture about the glass beads, especially in Indonesia, and hope you learn about the history and find out the beauty of them.

  1. Kia Ora Mami chan, Just another little correction
if you don't mind :) If you say 'since glasses were invented' means 'if spectacles were invented ! So it should read'since glass was invented' :) Hope you enjoy the lecture/workshop ? Love Adrian
